March 2019- The Humble Pot Project

The Humble Pot Project.

I want to be a good citizen, a good human.

I want to be ‘open to the whole thing- the sorrow and the beauty’ (Pema Chodren)

It’s easy to get overwhelmed. There are only so many hours in a day, and most of them are already taken with just living and providing for our immediate needs. I’m always thinking ‘baby steps’. Just get the ball rolling and don’t lose momentum. Start where you are, with what you know & set yourself up for success. Trust that if you are present to the experience that the rest will unfold and bestow itself.

I’ve planted the seeds a charitable & collaborative based workshop, The Humble Pot Project. And it satisfies many things on my ‘want’ list:

  • It brings people together and we create community
  • We all get to feel good about ourselves because it’s charitable, 100%
  • We raise money to help other people
  • We get to make something with our hands
  • Its not hard, it doesn’t take a lot of time, it’s an ‘easy-in’

In February 2019 the production team at the studio broke ground on THHP. I realized that a few of them had never made anything in clay and they work at a clay studio! Next, to work out the kinks, I hosted a ‘friends and family’ day at the studio and about 35 people came and made pots. I loved it, and a good time was had by everyone AND a total of $1600 was donated to charity.

We give what we can.
